Networking Activities of the RXVIII Conference

Networking and dialogue between delegates that enables exchange of scientific and technical knowledge is a hallmark of the Recovery of Biological Products Conference series. This includes the traditional Monday and Wednesday afternoon activities designed to foster professional interactions and stimulating conversations. The organizers of Recovery of Biological Products XVIII are carrying forward that valuable tradition by offering a diverse range of conference networking activities.

All delegates who have completed their conference registration process are strongly encouraged to select a networking activity on Monday afternoon as well as on Wednesday afternoon. Participation has always been an integral and uniquely valuable component of the Conference Series and really should not be missed.

The activities available on each day, all of which are available at a reduced rate of $90 that includes transport to and from the event, are listed below along with a brief description of the activity and physical/dress code requirements on your part. Please review and then go to "Activities Registration" under the "How to Participate" tab in the left-hand menu of the website to select and pay for your networking activities at the meeting.


Monday October 8

Biltmore Estates Hike


Experience the Biltmore grounds by taking a guided group hike. Enjoy walking along the French Broad River through lush forests and open meadows of Deer Park.

Requirements: Sunscreen. Hat. Sunglasses. Hiking attire and comfortable closed-toed walking or hiking shoes.


Biltmore Estates Bike Tour


Explore the Biltmore Estate from a different perspective on a guided bike tour. The Biltmore offers many miles of biking trails that range from well-marked woodland trails for a more challenging ride to leisurely paved trails along the French Broad River.

Requirements: Sunscreen. Sunglasses. Comfortable recreational attire and comfortable closed-toed walking, running or cycling shoes.


Biltmore Estates Float Trip


Enjoy a peaceful float down the gentle French Broad River as it winds through the Biltmore estate. Sit back and relax as a knowledgeable guide paddles your raft.

Requirements: Sunscreen. Sunglasses. Swimwear or quick dry clothes recommended. Water shoes or sandals with secure straps. No flip flops.


Blue Ridge Parkway Tour & Hike


Stop at the Folk Art Center on the way to the Blue Bridge Mountain hike, to browse the most visited attraction on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Folk Art Center showcases the finest in traditional and contemporary crafts of the Southern Appalachians. Then, experience the teeming life of the Blue Ridge Mountains for yourself as you wander through rhododendron thickets, past rushing waterfalls and over rugged peaks into misty gorges.

Eclectic Asheville Tour


Asheville is known for its artsy and musical community, along with its world class chocolatiers. Experience all three in this fast-paced taste of Asheville. Take a lesson from some of Asheville’s seasoned drummers, learn about different art styles and histories of Asheville’s art galleries and complete the tour by sampling Asheville favorite chocolates from a local artisan chocolate factory.

Biltmore Estates Kayak/Paddleboard Adventure


See the Biltmore Estate from a different perspective, as you paddle through the lush grounds and have a picturesque, unobstructed view. Enjoy paddling by the Biltmore house, stables and past Antler Hill Village and winery.

Requirements: Sunscreen. Sunglasses. Swimwear or quick dry clothes recommended. Water shoes or sandals with secure straps. No flip flops.


Zipline Adventure


Take a flight on a zipline canopy tour that offers scenic mountain views as well as spectacular views of the Asheville skyline. This tour includes 7 ziplines up to 570 feet long as well as a sky bridge. Set amongst 150+ year old majestic white and red oaks, this tour is exciting and conveniently located minutes from downtown.

Requirements: Sunscreen. Sunglasses. Comfortable recreational attire and comfortable closed-toed walking, running or hiking shoes.

Waterfalls Hike


Join Jennifer Pharr Davis, holder of the record for the fastest hike of the entire Appalachian 2,180-mile Trail that extends from Maine to Georgia, on a nature hike where you will visit major waterfalls in a beautiful State Forest. This path reveals some of the most spectacular waterfalls in the area including Hooker Falls, Triple Falls and High Falls. On the way, hear Jennifer’s amazing story.

Whitewater Rafting Trip


A French Broad River whitewater rafting trip takes you down the world’s third oldest river and through the scenic Pisgah National Forest in the mountains of North Carolina. On French Broad River Rafting trips you can expect splashy and fun Class II and III rapids.
